Star of the Republic Museum
In Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park, the Star of the Republic Museum is dedicated to presenting the history of the Texas Republic through state-of-the-art interactive exhibits, publications, and media presentations. The Star of the Republic Museum is the only museum in the state of Texas created specifically to collect and interpret the material culture and history of the Republic of Texas period from 1836-1846.
The newly renovated 10,000 square foot exhibits depict all aspects of the Republic period, including social life, agriculture, transportation, politics, and military affairs. Additionally, the museum’s research library is accessible to the public. The museum’s Discovery Center features interactive displays for visitors to experience the Republic period, exploring the early events and individuals in Texas History.
