The Maryland Zoo

If you plan a family trip to Baltimore soon, your kids would love to see The Maryland Zoo. Being the third oldest zoo in the country (was established in 1862), it has nearly 200 animal species to show you. I highly recommend visiting this beautiful resort during the summer, approximately in June, because then you will witness ZOOMERANG. I bet you never heard of ZOOMERANG before. Well, it is the most important fundraiser that takes place every year during the summer. It attracts many supporters and has transformed the Zoo into lively entertainment stages, featuring a variety of live music and tasty food. Kids love tasty food and kids love animals, right? There you go, a winning combination! If you wish to receive more information on the subject, please visit their website.

What else can you do there? Have you ever considered adopting an animal? Well, here you have the opportunity to adopt one. In 2006, the Zoo celebrated its 130th anniversary with the introduction of a new Victorian themed carousel. This carousel features 30 unique and exquisitely designed animals and you can contribute your part by “adopting” one of the carousel animals. You can use a family name, or you can gift the animal to honor friends or relatives. It can be a nice experience for you as a family, and it will teach your kids to cherish the environment we live in.

What else can you do in The Maryland Zoo? I think that the main thing would be to actually see the animals that you cannot find at home. How about porcupine, lion, monkey, okapi, penguin, owl, antelope, ostrich, cheetah and much more? I believe that seeing the nature so close will make your family trip a pleasant experience and create new and exciting memories for you and your children.

The Zoo is located in beautiful Druid Hill Park, less than 10 minutes from Baltimore’s Downtown Inner Harbor. Have fun!
