University of Northern Iowa Museums

Permanent natural history exhibits feature items from shells to mastodon bones, African antelope to Peruvian textiles. Changing exhibits highlight a variety of cultural and international themes. Call ahead to visit the nearby Marshall Center School, a restored 1893 one-room schoolhouse with original furnishings, textbooks and costumes. First-person interpretation available by request for groups. Special exhibit in spring 2006: “In Touch With Knowledge: The Educational History of Blind People.”
