Village of Sparks
Situated in the unique Niobrara River Valley, this historic village began with the 1885 organization of the Sparks School District. Since 1888, area residents have continuously celebrated Harvest Home Festival each August with horseshoes, foot races, horse races, the reading of the town history and an evening bowery dance. Just a few area historical sites are:
–Rocky Ford Camp, natural rock dam that crosses the river, near the site of the old Bruce Mill.
–Russell Osburn Memorial Lookout
–The first log cabin built in Cherry County only a short distance from Conner’s Camp.
–Old Rock Ford Schoolhouse, built in 1890 near Old Tunnel Rock.
