Yucca Theatre
The Yucca is a nostalgic example of flamboyant Assyrian-style architecture, featuring gilded lions, ornate columns, scrollwork and elaborate lighting fixtures. The exterior is cut sandstone with black marble columns framing the entrance. Built and designed by Wyatt C. Hendrick in 1929, the theatre was restored in 1981.
This Texas Historical Medallion landmark houses the madcap Summer Mummers, the oldest existing organization of its kind in the country bringing melodrama mayhem and hilarity. Bring the whole family to bash the bad guy with popcorn or enjoy side-splitting laughter during the Olio.
