Eastland

Eastland was established about 1875 as the seat of Eastland County, and grew primarily as a trade center for the surrounding farms and ranches. It was named for Capt. William M. Eastland, a San Jacinto hero and Texas Ranger. Current area resources include oil, ranching, farming and manufacturing. Fruit, pecans, vegetables, and feed crops are also important.

A Downtown Walking Tour features historical buildings, all within two city blocks, and highlights Eastlands history. Pick up a map for this self-guided tour at the Eastland Chamber of Commerce.

Dont miss Old Ripfest, held the third Saturday in September. This annual festival features a parade, food booths, arts and crafts, games, rides and live entertainment.

For golf enthusiasts, a nine-hole course and driving range, as well as restaurant, is available at the Lakeside Country Club located just north of city on F.M. 1301.
