Hondo

Hondo, the county seat of Medina County, was established in the 1880s on the Southern Pacific Railroad line. Hondo takes its name from Hondo (Spanish for “deep”) Creek. The city is the trade center for the western half of Medina County with its economy based on agriculture, ranching, and light industry. Hunting for deer and upland game birds is popular in season.

Be sure to check out the ‘unique’ welcome signs at either end of the city on U.S. 90.
