Lago Vista

Originally a lakeside resort development with homes, condominiums, and golf courses; Lago Vista was incorporated in 1984. Its name in Spanish means “Lake View.” The community encompasses more than 15 miles of shoreline on Lake Travis. Lago Vista is the gateway to the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, which consists of 22 sq. miles dedicated to the protection of the endangered Golden-cheeked warbler and the Black-capped vireo. The refuge hosts the six-day, Texas Songbird Festival the last weekend in April, and Refuge Week the first two weekends in October.

Abundant white-tailed deer roam along the lakeshore and golf courses where there’s year-round golfing, boating, fishing, hunting, and tennis. F.M. 1431 west offers exceptional scenery through Hill Country, especially pretty during spring with bluebonnets and other wildflowers.
