Navasota

Area settlement around Navasota began as early as 1822, and officially, the city was established in 1859, when the Houston & Texas Central Railroad built through and platted the town. Other railroads followed, and Navasota soon became the cotton processing and shipping center for the region.

Navasota’s downtown area is listed on National Register of Historic Places and features ornate 19th-century architecture, antebellum and Victorian-style homes, and beautiful parks and museums. Visitors will find a collection of shops filled with treasures of past and present.

Driving tours, location maps, and visitor packets are available through the local Grimes County Chamber of Commerce.
