Wakefield
Whether it is a Sunday afternoon, a weekend outing or even settling in for a lifetime – Wakefield has something for everyone. Located in the scenic Kansas flint hills and overlooking Milford Reservoir, Wakefield offers the sports enthusiast, the naturalist, and the entire family a relaxing breath of fresh country air. Wakefield provides the visitor a progressive community with friendly people whose heritage is rooted in the past, their pride is in the present, and their sights are set on the future.
Founded in 1869 by Richard Wake, Wakefield’s past is carefully preserved in the Wakefield Museum downtown. Sightseers and history buffs will both be delighted by this nostalgic look at the past.
We’ve kept the refreshing small town feeling here, but Wakefield’s growing up! The economy’s diverse and strong; Over 30 businesses, a progressive city government, excellent elementary and high school facilities, a public library,a large museum, an amphitheater, health care facilities and a retirement home, three churches, recreational facilities and … PRIDE. This group recently received the PRIDE Pacemaker II Award.
But don’t take us at our word alone – pay us a visit. We promise to take you by surprise!
