1813 Independence Celebration
In 1813 Independence Day was the most important national holiday. The 4th of July at Fort Meigs was celebrated with cannon firings, toasts, muskets and a day of leisure. War of 1812 soldiers and civilians will recreate this day through cannon firings, demonstrations and hands-on activities for the kids. The highlight of the day is the eighteen-gun salute accompanied by toasts and fife and drum music starting at 2pm.
War of 1812 soldiers and civilians will created an encampment throughout the weekend. See musket demonstrations, watch cannon firings and try your hand at period games and activities.
