Annual Apache Jii Celebration
The celebration takes place in Globe on historic downtown Broad Street from 9 am to 5 pm. Artisans and some of the state’s best Native American performers will be here to honor members of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. Native American singing, dancing, and storytelling representing the rich heritage of the Apache Tribe are featured. Scheduled appearances include drummers, buffalo dancers, flutist, hoop dancers, and the famous Apache Crown Dancers. Visitors are encouraged to bring cameras and camcorders to capture the drama of this and other performances. In addition to live entertainment, more than 100 booths with Native American art, jewelry, clothing, dolls, pottery, and more are enjoyed. Native American artisans demonstrate their skills in basket weaving, cradle board making, drawing, and painting.
A variety of crafts will be on display and for sale, and a food court features traditional Native American cuisine such as fry bread, Indian tacos, and Apache acorn stew.
