Big Bend Open Road Race

Mar
25–28

Held each April, the Fort Stockton to Sanderson Open Road Race on US Highway 285 is the only open road race in Texas.

Trials and registration start mid week in Sanderson. Drivers race against times and speeds that they bid as opposed to racing against each other. Some reach speeds over 200mph. Cars range from manufacturer models to custom speedsters.

Race volunteers monitor every entrance to Highway 285 to insure that the road is not accessed by anyone not entered in the race.
