Cary Veterans of Foreign Wars Annual Vendor Fair and Custom Car and Motorcycle Show
The Cary Veterans of Foreign Wars will be having the Annual Vendor Fair and Custom Car and Motorcycle Show on Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00 pm.
This community based event includes a local craft and vendor fair, a silent auction, a custom car and motorcycle show, activities for the children, an open house at the VFW Thrift Store, live music, a flag retirement ceremony, and BBQ from the famous “Smoking Express.”
All proceeds from this event will go to the Post 7383 Welfare Support Programs. These local Post programs provide relief to veterans and their families. These funds provide monies and cash grants for fuel for vehicles, groceries, rent assistance and other immediate needs.
The Franklin-Sloan Post 7383 was chartered on November 21, 1969 through the efforts of local veterans from IBM. The Post was named in honor for two Cary residents, Marine Pfc. Carl E. Franklin, casualty of war September 19, 1944, and Army Sgt. William P. Sloan, casualty of war May 19, 1945.
The building is situated on three acres and was erected in 1974. The Post has served as a home to other veteran organizations including the Viet Nam Veterans of America, The Marine Corps League, and the U.S. Submarine Veterans. The Post has provided space for Cary Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts Troops and has provided its hall for area churches. The Post currently supports the Cary High School NJROTC marksmanship team and an Adventure Scout Troop.
