Chehalis Western Express

Start your day bright and early at a restored Milwaukee Road depot in Chehalis, Washington. You will have the unique experience of watching vintage engines, including the #15, a 1918 Baldwin 90-ton 2-8-2S steam engine make their preparations to depart. Have your camera ready as we add our passenger consist, and off we’ll go!

The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad operates over a 9 mile section of track that extends southwest from Chehalis to Ruth, Wa. This historic line was previously part of the Milwaukie Road network that extended to South Bend and the Pacific Coast and was later operated by the Chehalis Western Railroad. The line winds through scenic hills and farmland along the Chehalis River and over several wooden trestles. As the locomotive steams along, we’ll be stopping for some photo run-bys. After a morning riding and shooting photos, we will make our way back to Chehalis, deboard, and head off for further afternoon fun.

A minimum of three photo runbys have been scheduled and more will be added if time permits. Coffee and donuts will be provided at boarding. Two open cars will be part of our consist to enjoy the fresh air and unparalleled views. As this trip is limited to less than 100 passengers, we highly recommend making your reservations ASAP.
