Civil War Living History

Late May 1861. The Civil War has begun. The Texas militia is going to war and the Henkel Square residents are sending them off with great fanfare. At 10:30 on Saturday morning, the unit will be presented with a flag. During the day, the troops will drill and prepare to depart for the east. Visitors are invited to visit the town store, talk with the Henkel Square residents and the troops about their lives, and how they feel about the war. Sunday, following church services, the residents will see the brave boys off.
