Huron Prairie Fest
Huron Prairie Fest is a free, outdoor event featuring environmental fun and education for the whole family, which is held annually at Maga Ta-Hohpi Waterfowl Production Area (WPA). This highly interactive event offers loads of hands-activities and interesting programs. In the past, activities have included bird netting and banding, live animal demonstrations, wetland exploration, trail rides with horse-drawn wagons, wildlife photography, birding by ear, wildlife puppet shows, prescribed fire equipment demonstrations, prairie bingo scavenger hunt, gardening for wildlife, bird house building, wildlife identification, GPS and compass navigation, wildlife crafts, Dutch oven cooking, butterfly tag and releases, rehabilitated raptor releases, native landscaping, hands-on exhibits from traveling children’s museums, and wildlife woodcarving demonstrations.
