Mount Independence State Historic Site

Step back in time to a place where Independence was built on Lake Champlain and discover what life was like for thousands of Revolutionary War soldiers stationed atop Mount Independence. Today an extensive trail system, with a new handicapped accessible trail, offers visitors a true “soft adventure” experience including beautiful scenery and a chance to explore the archaeological remains of this 300-acre site.
