National Road/Zane Grey Museum- Ohio Historical Society
This modern museum, located just minutes off I-71, east of Zanesville, has three major displays sure to interest groups of all ages. First is the exhibit on the National Road, “the Main Street of America,” the only land link between the East coast and western frontier in the early 19th century. A 135-foot diorama of the National Road tells the story from early times to the 1960s. The detailed diorama amazes visitors with its scale and depth of information.
The second display area is dedicated to Zane Grey, the “Father of the Adult Western.” This Zanesville author wrote more than 80 books.
The third area is dedicated to Ohio art pottery. Beautiful pieces of art pottery made in the Zanesville area and other parts of Ohio are on exhibit for pottery enthusiasts to discover.
