Want to keep track of the plants and flowers you see on your hikes? Here’s a fun way to start or expand a personal nature journal. Artist Sarah Landrum will discuss how to preserve visual impressions through drawings and close observation. Pitt Harding, of JSU’s English Department, will share samples from the writings of William Bartram, Thoreau, and other observers of nature. Dr. Mijitaba Hamissou, of JSU’s Biology Department, will be identifying spring wildflowers on this easy going hike at the base of Dugger Mountain Wilderness. No drawing or writing experience necessary. Bring a sketchbook or journal and drawing materials such as pencils, colored pencils, or small watercolor boxes. Also bring drinking water and snacks or lunch. Pre- registration is required. CEUs available upon request.
