New Mexico State Fair
New Mexico threw itself a state fair long before it was even considered a state. How’s that for bold? After 121 years in business the fair still remains the biggest event in New Mexico. Held in the heart of Albuquerque on its permanent 236-acre grounds throughout the month of September, the fair features everything under the Southwestern sun. Aside from well-known musicians, rodeos, and circus acts, you won’t want to miss Valentine’s Performing Pigs, demonstrations on Navajo Rug weaving and Chile Ristra making, the Goat Milking competition, the mysterious talent of hypnotists, arm wrestling contests, and the White Mountain Apache Dancers.
