Ohio Historical Center and Ohio Village
The Ohio Historical Center Complex presents a dynamic panorama of Ohio’s past. This nationally renowned contemporary museum houses permanent exhibits, which explore Ohio’s history, prehistory, and natural history, including Ohio in the Civil War. The newly remodeled gallery space hosts nationally touring exhibits, including in 2008 J.P. Morgan Chase presents Once Upon a Dime: The World of Money and Rockwell’s America: The Art of Norman Rockwell. The Center includes Ohio Village, a replica of a 19th century small town. The Village hosts events like All Hallow’s Eve, holiday-themed dinners and the popular Dickens Mystery Theatre. The center’s History Store offers books, toys, crafts, replicas, and other history-related gift items. The Ohio Historic Preservation Office and the Archives/Library also are housed in the center. The Archives/Library is open Wednesdays and Saturdays are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Thursdays, 1-9 p.m.
