Photographic Exhibition: India’s Kumbh Mela and short film Cloth Paper Dreams

Oct–Dec
30–14

One hundred million people made the journey, the largest human gathering ever recorded, each on his own pilgrimage to connect with something greater than himself. All congregated at the sacred confluence of the 3 holiest rivers in India, the Ganges, the Yamuna, and the mythical Sarawati. This is Kumbh Mela- the world’s largest spiritual gathering- and Austin based National Geographic Creative photographer Greg Davis walked side by side with the pilgrims to capture the myth and legend of the grand tradition. For the first time ever, Davis will display the iconic photos from his journey in a solo exhibition entitled, India’s Kumbh Mela. Part of the Midland Museum of the Southwest’s Contemporary Artist Series 2013, “Myths and Legends,” the exhibition begins November 15.
