Soakum Festival
Recent winner of the State of Ohio Historical Society’s Education Award for depicting frontier-life in the 1800’s. Some activities include horse-drawn wagon rides; numerous Appalachian crafters; musicians; broom makers; hat makers; spinners & weavers; apple
press; butter churn; homemade ice-cream; roasted chicken; blacksmith; moonshine; and more! The setting of Heritage Park features a covered bridge; church; log-cabin; and one-room school that take a page right out of “Little House On The Prairie’s” Walnut Grove. Town’s people dress the part in authentic costume while the Town Crier keeps
people informed of the day’s events!
