Weihnachtsfest – Deutschheim State Historic Site
Two weekends. This is a must see in Hermann. 10am to 4pm. Christmas open house with six different decorated 19th century Christmas trees, toy collections. Taste German cookie samples and watch craft demonstrations. The gift shop has large selection of the German cookie molds and a staff that will show you the impression they make in PlayDoh. A wonderful assortment of books on Hermann History and cook books from years past and present are also available in the gift shop.
See outstanding examples of 19th century Missouri German handwork, folk art and furniture. Learn about early German culture in Missouri through our exhibits and colorfully costumed interpreters. Admission is free. Costumed Tour Guides and Samples of German Cookies: Springerle and Lebkuchen. Enjoy Old World Holiday Customs with both the Pommer-Gentner and Strehly Homes ( both houses excellent examples of Missouri German Architecture ) bedecked for the season.
