Lake Guide
Lake Whitney
Whitney Lake offers some of the best outdoor recreation in Texas with 23,500 surface acres of water at the conservation pool. Whether you are looking for a day of relaxation, a weekend getaway, or an "out of the mainstream" vacation spot, Whitney Lake is the place! The clear water, scenic bluffs, a relatively mild climate, and excellent fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities attract approximately two million visitors each year. Whitney has great camping, picnicking, day use, and group facilities available. There are 10 Corps of Engineers parks, one state park, and three additional parks managed by Hill County or private individuals. Equestrian riders have a great place to explore rolling hills and woods in the McCown Valley Equestrian Area. Hopewell Trail, an additional equestrian riding and multi-use trail opened in 2002. Trail riders can access the trail and stay overnight at the equestrian camping area at Plowman Creek Park.
