Big Thicket National Preserve

Some 97,000 acres of dense woods, swamps and streams administered by National Park Service as biological preserves in several units; each unit an ecological pocket of birds, animals and rare plant life. Nature and canoe trails under development, along with primitive camping areas. Inquire locally for directions, or visit the Big Thicket Information Station near Kountze.
