Newton

Newton was selected as the site for the new seat of Newton County in 1853. Today the city is a commercial center for lumbering, livestock, oil and farming. Newton is also home to the beautiful Toledo Bend Reservoir.

Newton County is home to four birding sites on the Big Thicket Loop of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. There are over 220 species of birds that reside or migrate in the county. There are several Texas Historical Markers and Medallions placed throughout the county.

Somewhere between here and nowhere.

The spaces in between are often the most memorable.
