Annual Dauphin Island Art Festival
Artists are coming from the Carolinas down to Florida, and west to Louisiana. The juried event will be held beneath the shade of the majestic oaks at historic Cadillac Square Park on Dauphin Island. “Around 60,000 square feet of the park has been set aside for the 50 or more artists scheduled to show,” Joyce Champion, co-coordinator said. “This is a high-end art festival with works in oil and watercolor, charcoal, woodwork and pottery, metalwork and fine jewelry, and sculptured art.” Local Dauphin Island artist and festival co-coordinator, Dena McKee agrees that the quality of art to be displayed is extraordinary for the event.
Throughout the days there will be a food court of local restaurants such as the Lighthouse Bakery and Island BBQ to feed the body, as the light sound music feeds the soul. The family-friendly festival will also offer activities for children such as face painting. The Dauphin Island Art Festival is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cadillac Square Park. There will be free parking on-site and along the roadside during the event.
